Carbide substrate and coating advances make WAK 10 more durable April 2008
 
Technological improvements in the manufacture of carbide substrates and coatings at Walter’s new manufacturing facility in Germany have resulted in further improvements to wear resistance – and therefore extended tool life at maximum operating speeds – of the highly successful Tiger.tec WAK10 turning insert.

The application of an improved heat-resistant substrate and a doubling of the thickness of the aluminium oxide coating have led to the evolution of a new cutting edge shape that guarantees process reliability for cast iron and hardened steel machining applications.

Variants available include flat top inserts with standard cutting edges (xNMA), flat top inserts with highly chamfered edges (T02020) and indexable inserts with chip breaker geometry NM5 as well as NM wipers for excellent surface finish.
