Grinding machine maker Fritz Studer has announced its latest Fritz Studer Award initiative.
Entries are eligible from graduates with an engineering degree from any European University or Institute of Technology and whose thesis contained:
[] Innovative machine concepts or components;
[] Alternative materials in mechanical engineering;
[] Simulation models of dynamic and thermal behaviour of machine tools;
[] Control and sensor concepts for machine tools;
[] New or further developed manufacturing technologies, especially in hard-fine machining, such as grinding, hard turning, etc.
Work should be submitted by 1/12/2008 and will be assessed and valuated by a jury comprising:
[] Prof. Dr.-Ing. Konrad Wegener, director Institute of Machine Tools and Manufacturing, Swiss Federal Institute of Technology Zurich (ETHZ)
[] Dr.-Ing. Dirk Friedrich, manager innovations & acquisition, Körber AG
[] Dr.-Ing. Frank Fiebelkorn, manager research & technology, Fritz Studer AG.
The winner will receive a prize of CHF10,000 at the Schleifring Grinding Symposium (May 6 – 8, 2009), held in Thun, Switzerland, headquarters of Fritz Studer.
