Queen's Award presentation for Mazak 12/10/2007

Yamazaki Mazak was recently presented a certificate and engraved crystal bowl marking the company’s achievement in winning the Queen’s Award for Enterprise 2007 in the International Trade category.

Her Majesty’s Lord Lieutenant of Worcestershire, Mr Michael Brinton, visited Yamazaki Mazak’s factory in Worcester on Wednesday, 26 September 2007, to present the certificate and crystal bowl.

At a ceremony in front of all the staff the Lord Lieutenant was joined by the chairman of Worcestershire County Council, Cllr John Smith and Mrs Smith; the Mayor or Worcester, Cllr Stephen Inman; Mr Michael Foster MP; Mr Peter Luff MP; Mr Mike Ashton of the Herefordshire and Worcestershire Chamber of Commerce; and Mr Eric Brown representing UK Trade & Investment.

In congratulating the company, the Lord Lieutenant remarked that Yamazaki Mazak is an outstanding example of how, with the right levels of investment in state-of-the-art manufacturing technology and skilled, well trained and committed staff, UK companies are able to compete successfully in world markets.

In thanking the Lord Lieutenant and guests, Dr David Jack, Yamazaki Mazak’s group managing director Europe, referred to the fact that the City of Worcester has become synonymous with Worcester Porcelain, and the County is synonymous with Worcestershire Sauce. He hoped it would not be too long before the City and the County are also synonymous with Mazak machine tools.
