Mori Seiki's NMV5000 DCG 5-axis vertical machining centre was recently awarded the Nikkan Kogyo Shimbun sponsored "37th Machine Design Award (Minister of Economy, Trade and Industry Prize)."
The Nikkan Kogyo Shimbun Award is supported by Japan's Minister of Economy, Trade and Industry. The products are judged not only on their appearance, functions and performance, but also for their overall features, such as economic efficiency, marketability, safety and eco-friendliness.
The NMV5000 DCG was rewarded for its machine performance, with the integration of our original technologies such as Top Box-in-Box Construction, DCG (Driven at the Center of Gravity), DDM (Direct Drive Motor) on the B and C axes, and ORC (Octagonal Ram Construction), which offers superior straightness by controlling thermal displacement on the Z-axis. It was also praised for its operability, with excellent visibility and access to the workpiece.
This year there were 24 per cent more entries than last year, with entries taken from numerous sectors, including machine tools, construction machinery, transportation, printing machinery and measurement equipment.
