Measurement Solutions is strengthening its 3D scanning capabilities with a new strategic partnership with Kreon Technologies of France.

Partnership strengthens 3D scanning focus

The move follows the success of its Handyscan3D handheld laser scanner. Kreon Technologies is the leading pioneers in 3D laser scanning technologies, it is claimed.

“We recognised the need for a complementary product to the revolutionary Handyscan3D,” said Iain Caville, managing director of Measurement Solutions. “Kreon Technologies clearly stand out from other companies by offering innovative solutions for CMM and portable arm applications, that in no way conflict with or jeopardise our existing activities with Handyscan3D. We now have the UK’s most complete range of solutions for rapid, portable scanning technologies, further cementing our goal to be the UK’s leading supplier of 3D measurement solutions”.

Kreon Technologies has developed many patents for its range of high speed, high accuracy, 3D laser scanning solutions. Kreon laser scanners can be used in conjunction with any make or model of fixed bed CMM or portable measuring arm, plus other types of portable measuring device.

All Kreon laser scanners incorporate a unique, integrated Renishaw touch probe capability, such that the scanner can be used as a traditional touch probe device or as a high-tech laser scanner, without having to change probes, recalibrate, or disturb the measuring process in any way. The scanners also have an integrated Renishaw connector, so that they are fully compatible with Renishaw PH10, MIH, and probe changers for automated applications, and are extremely compact such that they are not cumbersome in operation.

Kreon has also taken the step to have the scanner technology fully integrated within the latest Metrolog XG software. For the first time ever, it is now possible to use a combined touch trigger probe and laser scanner within a single piece of measuring and analysis software, specifically designed for 3D inspection purposes.

“The inclusion of Kreon laser scanners within our product portfolio offers us an exciting opportunity within the market,” added Mr Caville. “3D digitising and point cloud analysis is, without doubt, the way forward for 3D inspection. The possibility to retrofit Kreon scanners on to existing CMM systems and portable arms offers users the first opportunity to use this technology without the need to invest in completely new measuring equipment."
